According to the People's Daily Online, the said animal has never been seen in the waters of East China Sea before. It has two bulging teeth, a long and large snout, and doesn't have any fins.

The Chinese wildlife magazine "Bo Wu" stated that the mysterious animal found near Mount Putou, an island under the administration of Zhoushan City, could be a member of the beaked whales of family Ziphiidae.
