Most of the time,we drink water in between meals. Aside from plain water, we enjoy meals with our favorite beverages like juice,soda,tea etc. But what seems normal might be detrimental to ones health. Many nutrition experts agree that drinking water during meals might lead to some serious health issues.

What if a person drinks a lot of water during meals? This will happen to his/her digestive system; A person will experience heartburn or worse, acid reflux. If the person is used to this wrong habit for years, he/she have a higher risk of having cardiovascular or digestive disorders. According to Shonali Sabherwal:
Drinking water with meals can also cause a surge in your insulin levels, almost like the way high glycemic food would affect you. "The more insulin is released in to your blood stream, the higher the chances of you storing fat in your body."

Some experts recommend that a person should not drink for 30 minutes before meals and another 30 minutes after the meal. They also recommend to only drink small amounts of water intermittently just to quench a little thirst. The reason is surprising; A person will be able to properly digest foods and get most essential nutrients of out it.

It is also advised that a person should chew more to prevent drinking water during meals. Chewing more will not only lessen the thirst you feel during meals but it also aid our digestion because digestive enzymes every time we chew.
