How A Utopian Moneyless Resource Based Economy Can Change The World

How A Utopian Moneyless Resource Based Economy Can Change The World

It is a common knowledge that man is the only organism that needs money to survive. Can the world survive without money? According to Jacques Fresco, the proponent of the Resource Based Economy; Yes, we can. With the help of advanced science and technology, mankind can have access to limitless supply of almost everything, without the need of money. In a RBE(Resource Based Economy) all of nature's resources belong to every person in the planet contrary to the present system where most of the resources belong to the select few. If all nations would embrace the Resource Based Economic System, it will remove racism, hunger, poverty, wars, corruption and petty crimes.

The monetary system doesn’t work anymore and is obsolete. This is obvious when you look at today’s world with increasing unemployment, financial crisis, endless consumption producing endless waste and pollution, not to speak of crime and wars. You could say money has outplayed it’s role on this planet. It produces greed and corruption through the profit motive we are all a slave to. The economy is falling apart, and everyone seems to be struggling to get richer and richer or just to make ends meet. The financial crisis has so far made over 200 million more people end up in poverty. Now, about 2 billion people in the world are considered poor. Poor countries that have received massive loans from the World Bank have become much poorer after receiving the loans, because of the interest. And they can only hope to pay it back. The collective external debt of all the governments in the world is now about 52 trillion dollars and this number doesn’t include the massive amount of household debt in each country. How can we owe each other so much money??? Because we think we need it.
FINAL WORDS:

How A Utopian Moneyless Resource Based Economy Can Change The World

In a Resource Based Economy there is no concept of nation or state, nothing is also privately owned. It promotes abundance for everyone or post scarcity. Post scarcity can only be achieved if central banks are abolished. Contrary to popular belief, those who promote RBE are not communists, because they believe that RBE is way beyond the failed systems that mankind followed such as feudalism, fascism, feudalism and capitalism. In communism the state owns everything. In socialism the state owns something while the rest is privately owned. In capitalism everything is privately owned. In a RBE, each citizen own everything.

Many science fiction fans would find parallels between the post scarcity, semi-anarchist utopian society of Iain Banks' Culture and the proposed RBE. Citizens of the Culture are governed by sentient Minds, they are machines with transcendental intelligence. They were responsible for the management of almost everything, from food production to defense. The series depicted a fictional universe where provided for everyone, and everyone can pursue their own interests and dreams and live in the way they want. In the series characters do not have to worry about money, debt, and profit, we can achieve what the citizens of Culture accomplished if RBE was implemented.
