Breaking Blockbusters: A Serbian Film – Not your typical movie scene

Watching films has been part of everyone’s culture. Films being created and shown to the different part of the globe had ignited change for some or should I say the reason for the change to some. But if there’s one movie that captured everyone’s attention – so well-known that it started debates from prominent people from prominent countries.

No, it wasn’t a film about our future being saved by mighty men – trained by armed forces.

No, it wasn’t about someone who conquered the odds in order to achieve his dreams.

No, it wasn’t about our nature being threatened by unlikely creatures.

It was about a middle – aged man who is struggling to support his family. He is forced to do a movie in which he has no control about. Some of you would ask, “What’s the problem with that? Most actors don’t have the control with some of their movies and it’s okay if the man don’t have also.”

The surprising thing is, the man who is struggling with his finances is a retired porn star and the movie he’s about to make is widely recognized due to its gruesomeness. Some of the disturbing scenes included in the movie were rape scene with a new born baby and the scene where the star decapitates a woman and still have sex with her.

Though to say the least, some of the countries agreed to screen the movie without any conflict from the participating countries. On the other hand, some had made their verdict to ban the movie on their countries. Thus, explaining that the movie violated laws on sexuality.

Then it hit me, maybe just maybe. Some people would truly understand the film because they never got the chance to see the film in a different perspective.

Some things aren’t supposed to be taken literally.

Movies is a work of art – polished by the creative work of the director together his crew.

Each scene has a symbol to discover.

Each horrible scene is a gentle reminder, that things shouldn’t be sugar – coated.

“The film is a diary of our own molestation by the Serbian government. It’s about the monolithic power of leaders who hypnotize you to do things you don’t want to do. You have to feel the violence to know what it’s about.” The director said.
